When a tooth’s inner pulp becomes infected or badly decayed, root canal therapy removes the damaged tissue and seals the tooth — relieving pain and saving a tooth that would otherwise need to be extracted, usually in just one or two visits.
After numbing the area completely, we access the infected pulp chamber, clean out the infected tissue from the tooth’s canals, and fill the space with a biocompatible material to seal it. In most cases we place a temporary filling the same day, with a permanent crown to follow once the tooth has settled.
We perform root canal treatment using rotary endodontic instruments — electrically-powered, nickel-titanium tools that are far more flexible than traditional stainless-steel hand files. That flexibility lets us clean curved canals more thoroughly and consistently, with a quieter, faster, and more comfortable procedure overall.
